Faux Painting.

Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months…who’s the Project Manager on this? However, once the stone painting began it was a pretty easy process. One lesson learned was cheap craft paint is exactly that. Cheap Craft Paint! It was runny and hard to mix the desired colors, especially since the selection was mostly shades, and not true hues. In any case, we are pleased with the way it turned out. And by “we” we mean our trusty Designer (aka Me.)

After the clay stones were glued to the foundation, they were painted with a base coat of dark blue-black. The following coats were washes of light greys, mossy greens, and darker greys for accents. There were some dry brushing and toothbrush splattering added for texture.
